On April 26th, 2024, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jake Carey was contacted by the Broken Arrow Police Department in reference to a sexual assault that they were investigating involving a juvenile.  The victim stated that the suspect, identified as Jerry V. Lafayette of Broken Arrow, OK, had assaulted them on multiple occasions over a 4-year period. 

This information was disclosed during a forensic interview that was conducted by a trained forensic interviewer.  Upon receiving this information Investigator Carey submitted the information the District # 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp’s office for review and issuance of charges.  On 05-20-2024 Wagoner County Investigator’s received an arrest warrant for Jerry V. Lafayette. 

On 05-22-2024 Wagoner County Investigator’s, deputies, and Broken Arrow Detectives located Jerry V. Lafayette in Broken Arrow at his residence and served him with his arrest warrant without incident.  He was taken into custody and transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center where he was booked into same.  He was charged with Lewd or Indecent Acts to a Child under 16 and his bond set at 100,000 dollars.
