Jail Administrator – Major Ryan Russell

Major Ryan Russell began his career at the Wagoner County Detention Center in February 2020 as a detention officer. By the age of 22, his exceptional dedication and leadership potential earned him a remarkable promotion to Jail Administrator on June 14, 2021, making him one of the youngest individuals to hold this prestigious position in Wagoner County.

Since stepping into this leadership role, Major Russell has been unwavering in his commitment to advancing the detention center. His focus on innovation, professionalism, and best practices in corrections has earned him significant recognition at both the state and departmental levels. In October 2024, Major Russell further demonstrated his dedication to professional development by completing the Council on Law Enforcement Education & Training (CLEET) program, a distinguished accomplishment that underscores his commitment to excellence in law enforcement leadership.

Major Russell is currently pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management at Northeastern State University. His professional development also includes completing the Federal Bureau of Investigation's LEEDA Internal Affairs Investigations program and earning certification as an instructor in Correctional Emergency Response Teams.

Through his leadership and vision, Major Ryan Russell continues to set the standard for excellence in corrections, fostering a safe and progressive environment for staff, inmates, and the community.
